Luke Botica has a 35-year career as a Big 4 CPA firm audit and forensic investigations partner, and as a C-Suite financial executive with significant experience influencing, steering, and supporting businesses at both Board and Executive operations and finance level.
Mr. Botica’s experience includes:
- Health South appointment as Interim SVP-Financial Reporting to address SEC trading investigation, FBI criminal investigations relating to fraudulent financial reporting, stock delisting, trading halt, debt freezes and blockages, and numerous lawsuits. Led a team of over 500 forensic accountants to investigate the over $4.6 billion fraud, restructure operations, and restate financial statements in light of fraud investigation.
- As a KPMG Forensics Practice Partner, investigated FCPA, money laundering, and activities. Led the development, adoption, and implementation of policies and procedures to address Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), FCPA, and SEC Form ADV information for registered and exempt investment advisors.
- C-Suite executive (CEO, COO, CFO, CDO) and Board Member at six public companies. Executive positions include Telesphere Communications (VP Finance, CFO & Treasurer); Chemical Waste Management (VP Finance, Planning and Corporate Development); Allied Waste Industries (SVP Finance, CFO, Treasurer & Secretary)
C-Suite leadership of over 100 acquisitions and refinancings.
- Big-4 Audit Partner, and Consulting and Forensics Partner, serving numerous companies in many industries, including approximately a dozen SEC registrants.
Mr. Botica has experience in investigations, shadow investigation (of matters involving audit clients), litigation testimony and expert reports, often using e-discovery. His areas of expertise include fraud investigations, due diligence and integrations, IPOs and secondaries, debt financings, carve outs and divestitures, profitability initiatives, budgeting, operational improvement, strategic business plans, financial statement restatements, turnarounds and restructuring, bankruptcy filing and avoidance, systems and controls, including SOX, and forensics and investigations.
